The Roaring 20s Vintage
1920s was the first era where women began to design clothes for themselves, no longer were they restricted by corsets and petticoats.
As waistlines dropped to the hips as flapper dresses and head dresses were born with beautiful fabrics displayed like Silk Crepe, Chiffon and Velvet.
Hats were small brimmed and fitted snug to the head made from fabric or straw with details to the bands around them, beautiful head band began to be worn with flapper lace skullcaps becoming popular into the mid 1920s.
The short Bobbed hair cut of the era suited well the neat fitting 1920s hats and bands with women forging a new role for themselves in society by shaking off the old conformity of the Victorian and Edwardian era.
Art Deco has a unique appeal and the fashions of this amazing era reflect the simplicity of these designs, this is probably the most well collected era both in Vintage fashion and antiques with dresses hats and head dresses available to buy at auction.
Some of the most beautiful beaded flapper evening purses come from this era and they are themselves highly collectible with prices reaching many hundreds of dollars. Smaller items can be picked up for cheaper prices, also many people tend to buy cheaper flapper dresses which could be restored as many dresses from this era have areas of damage due to the delicate fabrics used.
