Bill Blass Vintage
Bill Blass is a designer best know for his unique sense of modern day women designing clothes that were practical and stylish for the modern women. Founding his company in 1970 he was to change the face of sportswear with his sleek designs.
He began his career in 1946 in New York and by 1959 he was working for Maurice Rentner Ltd, this was the company which he lauched his own label buying out the owners in 1970s and renaming it Bill Blass Limited.
Over the neck 30 years Bill Blass was to branch out into other areas from Fur, Luggage to Chocolate and in 1976 he was commissioned by Ford to design The Continental Mark series Car.
The main era for his designs was the 1970s with his best work coming from his own Label.
In 1999 Bill Blass retired selling his emporium to Michael Groveman for $50 Million and set work on writing his memoirs. Sadly after a 2 year illness with Cancer he died in 2002 just 6 days after completing his book "Bare Blass".
Vintage Blass is available at auction and highly sort after, mostly from the 1970s and 1980s.
